Set up E-mail Alert for Netscape 7.2.

Step Action

From the Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings.

From the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window, click Add Account.

From the New Account Setup window:

  • Select Email Account.
  • Click Next.

From the Identity window, type:

  • Your Name.
  • Email Address, your e-mail address.
  • Click Next.

From the Server Information window:

  • Select POP.
  • For Incoming Server, type voicemail.birch.com.
  • Click Next.

For Outgoing Server: if your email address ends in @birch.net, enter smtp.birch.net. If it ends in anything else, enter the outgoing mail server of your current e-mail service.

From the User Names window:

  • For Incoming User Name type your main telephone number (10 digits, no dashes or spaces.
  • Click Next.

From the Account Name window:

  • For Account Name, type Birch Integrated Voicemail.
  • Click Next.

From the Congratulations window:

  • Review entries for accuracy.
  • Select the Download messages now checkbox.
  • Click Finish.

From the Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings.

In the Email Integration Account Settings window, select Server Settings.

From the Server Settings:

  • For Server Name enter voicemail.birch.com.
  • For User Name enter your 10-digit telephone number without dashes or speces.
  • Set the Port field to 4000.
  • Click the checkbox for Check for messages every and set to 5 minutes.
  • Select the Leave messages on server checkbox.
  • Select the For at most checkbox and enter 2 days.
  • Select the Until I delete or move them from inbox checkbox.
  • Click OK.

Click Get Messages.

Result: Enter Your Password window appears.

From the Enter Your Password window:

  • Type your voicemail password.
  • Select the Use Password Manager to remember this password checkbox
  • Click OK.
  Your Email Alert has been successfully set up.
